Hawaii Braces for Double Tropical Trouble: "Mother Nature, You're Fired!"

Oh, Hawaii, the land of aloha and endless mai tais, is now preparing for a double whammy of tropical storms. Because why have one when you can have two, right? 🌪️🌪️

The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting that Tropical Storm Hone will sashay south of the Hawaiian Islands this weekend. And guess what? It's planning a brief upgrade to a hurricane late Sunday into Monday. Thanks a lot, Hone. We could've done without the drama.

"This system is located about 310 miles east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii, moving west northwest around 14 mph," the NWS said. Because apparently, Hone wants to take a scenic tour before wreaking havoc.

On Saturday, the NWS issued an immediate tropical storm warning through Monday. Expect "extremely strong winds" that will cause "hazardous seas," capsize vessels, and reduce visibility to nil. Just what we need, a real-life Titanic reenactment.

Bernie Rayno, AccuWeather’s chief on-air meteorologist, spilled the tea on Friday: "Tropical Storm Hone formed in the Central Pacific and is moving briskly to the west toward Hawaii. An area of high pressure north of Hawaii is going to be steering this storm." Thanks, Bernie. We appreciate the heads-up.

But wait, there's more! Hawaii is also expected to have an "elevated risk for wildfires." Because, you know, 2023 ain't done with us yet.

"If Hone loses organization and some of the rain bands fall apart, the lee sides of the mountains may get very little or no rain and may get a lot of wind instead, which could increase the wildfire danger," Alex DaSilva, AccuWeather’s lead hurricane expert, said on Friday. Awesome. Just what we need, nature going full pyro on us.

And as if Hone wasn't enough, the NWS also dropped a bombshell: the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida, is issuing advisories for Hurricane Gilma. Gilma is currently around 1650 miles east of Hilo, Hawaii. Great, another one? Can we just cancel 2023 already?
