Oh great, even the airports are glitching while reality frantically tries to reboot. Thanks, hackers! #TechTantrum
Oh, fabulous! While the world burns, flights are delayed at Sea-Tac because some genius decided to give the Port of Seattle's cybersecurity the day off. Happy Sunday, folks! We're not even safe from tech bros on the weekend.

Oh, Seattle-Tacoma Airport is Having a Pre-Apocalyptic Cyber-Snowflake Moment
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is still melting down thanks to a teeny tiny potential cyberattack that hit the Port of Seattle on Saturday. Oh, the horror! đź’€
Our beloved airport chimed in on X (formerly known as that bird app) around 9 a.m. PT about the possible drama, saying they've "isolated critical systems" but didn't have a clue when things would be fixed. Classic, right?
The airport’s website was still offline as of 11 a.m. PT Sunday. They chirped on X, "Port teams continue to make progress blah blah," but basically, they have no idea when the systems will be back to normal. Shocking, we know.
Potential Cyberattack Possibly Causes Total Chaos
According to FlightAware, there were 165 flights delayed and six cancelled on Saturday, with 116 flights delayed and four cancelled as of 11:30 a.m. PT Sunday. Who knows if the outages are to blame? Let's just blame it on capitalism.
The airport, in all its wisdom, suggested travelers check with airlines about flight statuses, check in online, and avoid checking luggage if possible. Brilliant!
Meanwhile, Delta and Alaska Airlines, which use Seattle-Tacoma as a hub, told the Seattle Times that their operations weren't affected Saturday. How dare they have functioning systems!
Alaska Airlines informed USA TODAY their systems aren’t impacted, but "the one area where we are starting to see some impacts today is with the Port of Seattle’s baggage sorting system, so we are proactively warning guests who are flying out of Seattle to avoid checking a bag if possible." Because who needs their stuff, right?
Delta Airlines didn't bother responding to a request for comment Sunday. Typical corporate avoidance!
All this excitement comes right after that massive Crowdstrike outage in July that messed up some airlines' reservation and scheduling systems, cancelling thousands of flights. Because 2023 isn’t chaotic enough already! 🤡
