Oh, fantastic! Because nothing says "mindful" and "demure" like a good old-fashioned trademark tussle. Thanks, capitalism!

Oh, Honey! The Internet Is Not Having This Trademark Tea ☕️
Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard "demure and mindful" echoing through your social media feeds. Thanks to the fabulous TikTok creator Jools Lebron, these words have become the internet's favorite catchphrase. With over 2 million followers and 113 million likes on TikTok, Lebron has been living their best life, working with amazing businesses, making that coin, and even funding their gender-affirming care.
But hold up, Boo! You know what's not demure or mindful? Filing a trademark for a phrase that someone else made famous. 😏
In a now-deleted TikTok, Lebron spilled the tea about some guy named Jefferson A. Bates who filed a trademark for "Very demure..very mindful" without their knowledge. Poor Jools was devastated, feeling like they "dropped the ball" by not registering it sooner.
"I’ve just invested so much money and time into this and I feel like I did it wrong," they said, holding back tears. "I feel like I didn’t try hard enough. I wanted this to do so much for my family and provide for my transition, and I just feel like I dropped the ball."
And the internet, honey? It was not having it. 😤
"Sorry but if my money isn’t going directly to jools if I buy merch that says 'very demure' then I’m not buying it. Jefferson Bates is such a loser for doing that to her," one commenter said under an X (formerly Twitter) repost of her video.
The internet says "NOT TODAY, SATAN!" 😈🚫
Turns out, this isn't Bates' first rodeo. He's filed several other controversial trademark applications, including phrases related to the Denver Broncos and the Washington Commanders. #Shady 🌳
But don't worry about our girl Jools just yet! Trademark lawyers on TikTok, like Ashley Nkadi (@Bellewoods), have reassured us that Lebron likely has a strong case for legal opposition. Mama didn't raise no fool – Jools has been using that phrase in marketing materials for ages, and that counts for something! 💪🏾
So, grab your popcorn, babes. 🍿 This trademark drama is just getting started, and the internet is here for it! 😩🤩
