Oh Fabulous, Another Earthquake: Portugal Shakes It Off

Oh, mother nature, you drama queen. Southern Portugal woke up to a 5.4 magnitude earthquake Monday morning, because who needs coffee to shake things up, right?

This geological tantrum happened at 5:11 a.m. local time, just off the coast, about 32 miles west of the town of Sines. Because, you know, the earth just wanted to party before sunrise.

According to the USGS, this little shindig happened at a depth of almost 11 miles. Not deep enough to be a metaphor for the current political climate, but deep enough to remind us that the earth is alive and kicking.

Oh, You Felt That?

No injuries reported, but light to moderate shaking was felt up and down Portugal’s coast, including in the capital city of Lisbon. Because why should the earthquake be the only one having a good vibe?

Portugal’s Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere reported at least four aftershocks of minimal intensity. Because one earthquake just isn't enough drama for a Monday, apparently.
