Omg, Texan Legends: Community Colleges are Crushing It! 🌟🌟
Listen up, y'all! Austin Community College and the 49 other rad community college districts in Texas are slaying the game, prepping the future workforce for jobs that won't leave them living in their mom's basement. 😎
Let's talk numbers, shall we? Texas' community college districts are educating a whopping 678,000 students — that's more than our four-year colleges! 😮 In 2023 alone, they handed out 130,000 degrees. From tiny rural towns to bustling cities, these colleges are killing it, and they're even helping high schoolers get a head start! 🥳
And get this — they're doing all of this at a quarter of the cost of a public four-year college. Talk about a bargain! 💸
Community colleges are all about giving everyone a shot at success, no matter where they come from. They're the ultimate liberal dream, spreading opportunity like vegan butter on gluten-free toast. Plus, they're hooking businesses up with skilled workers, so it's a win-win. 🙌
Our lawmakers finally got the memo last year and dumped a historic $683 million into community colleges, making them more affordable and accessible. Thanks, Obama! (I mean, Texas legislators.) 🙏
Now, we're all about keeping that momentum going in the next legislative session. We're talking full funding, meaningful "credentials of value," and modernizing high schools with dual credit courses. Let's get this show on the road! 🚌
It's about damn time community colleges get the recognition they deserve. I just came back from the Texas Association of Community Colleges meeting in Austin, and let me tell you, the energy was electric! ⚡
Check out what we're doing to transform community colleges at Texas 2036. We're at a tipping point, folks. Let's not screw this up. 🌍❤️️
