Dua Lipa Ditches Crowds for Honky Tonk Hootenanny at Austin’s Broken Spoke

Oh, the irony! Pop sensation Dua Lipa skipped the flashy clubs and opted for a night of country dancing at Austin's time-honored dive, the Broken Spoke, as revealed in her latest Instagram post.

Yes, you heard it right. This 50-year-old iconic institution still stands proud amidst Austin’s architectural gentrification. Talk about cultural preservation, am I right?

“HONKY TONK HEAVEN!! AUSTIN SEE YOU AGAIN NEXT SATURDAY!!!” Dua Lipa gushed in her caption. Pretty sure she's the first pop star to hit the Broken Spoke since Vince Gill’s last visit in the ‘90s.

Dua Lipa Discovers Austin's Hidden Gems

The pop star's been on a roll hitting up all the cool-kid spots during her stay for Austin City Limits Music Festival. She started with a Friday lunch at La Barbecue (because, of course, barbecue), then dropped by Este on Saturday, according to the casual evidence left on Este's Instagram stories.

Este, named one of the best restaurants in the nation by Esquire in 2023, is a must-visit, according to the highly-discerning Austin American-Statesman food critic Matthew Odam. The Camarones El Rica is apparently chef Fermin Nuñez’s fave, and now it’s Dua Lipa’s too.

That praise could mean a temporary menu description switcheroo, according to Nuñez. Fingers crossed it stays that way—for a little while, at least.
