Hold Onto Your Tofu, Texas! H-E-B Finally Embraces the Future with Tap-to-Pay
In a shocking display of joining the 21st century, Texas' beloved grocery store, H-E-B, has announced that it's rolling out digital tap-to-pay services. Because, you know, who needs to fumble with cash like a caveman?
This monumental shift will happen gradually, because Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was H-E-B's tech infrastructure. Once the magic happens, customers can whip out their Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay at flagship stores like they've been dying to for ages.

Tap-to-Pay Coming to a San Antonio Near You... Eventually
H-E-B, in its infinite wisdom, has decided to roll out this service region by region. San Antonio residents, you lucky ducks, are first in line to experience the thrill of tapping your way to grocery bliss.
The rest of Texas, don't worry, you'll get your turn. It'll just take a week per location, which is totally efficient and not at all sluggish. Even Mi Tienda stores in Houston will get in on the action—eventually.
Ashwin Nathan, H-E-B Group Vice President of Marketing and Payments, is practically giddy about it. "At H-E-B, we're always exploring a broad range of technologies to enhance how customers shop and pay for products," Nathan said, trying to sound like they haven't been dragging their feet. "This has been one of the most requested services we have received from our customers and Partners, and we are excited to now make this popular technology available at all our H-E-B locations."
Once tap-to-pay goes live, you can tap with your physical cards or digital wallets at cash registers, self-checkout lanes, and even H-E-B brand restaurants and pharmacies. Fuel pumps? Not yet, but they'll get there. Trust H-E-B to make sure you can pay for your gas with a wave of your phone someday.
Based in San Antonio, H-E-B operates more than 435 stores in Texas and Mexico, according to its website.
