Friday's ACL Fest: Stapleton, blink-182, and Other Least-Problematic Weekend Two Picks
Oh fabulous, another weekend where basic Beckys and bros swarm ACL Fest to toss around corporate hashtags and pretend they know the lyrics. Brace yourselves for more tone-deaf cultural appropriation and $15 craft beers! But hey, at least the music was decent last week. Here, feast your gentrified ears on the best of the mediocre!

Austin City Limits Music Festival: Weekend Two Begins with a Bang
Buckle up, buttercups! Weekend two of Austin City Limits Music Festival 2024 kicks off with a lineup so diverse it'll make your grandma's potluck look boring. New faces include country queen Mickey Guyton, old school ATL rapper Jeezy, and electro-pop goddess Santigold.
Here are the six standout performances from weekend one that you just have to catch this week.
Chris Stapleton
Chris Stapleton turned ACL into a Southern-fried extravaganza with his enormous, twangy hooks. His voice is so powerful, it could make Trent Lott shake in his boots. The man sings like a wolf tearing into a juicy steak—and with more introspection than your therapized aunt. "I ain’t there yet," he croons. Who can resist a man working on himself? 🙄 — Ramon Ramirez

Blink-182
The punk-pop trio brought down the house—and by "house," we mean the stage. Fireworks, fireballs, aliens, and a celebrity sighting turned the show into a full-blown spectacle. Even Tom DeLonge wept, proving that grown men in blink-182 tees aren't afraid to show some emotion. — Mars Salazar
Foster the People
Mark Foster brought his signature swagger to the Honda stage, draped in angelic off-white. Every robotic plea from his lips was a sermon that made the crowd sway. He preached support for local artists and venues, because you know, good vibes only. The highlight? "Pumped Up Kicks" echoing through the night in a moment of unity, despite its dark undertones. — Mars Salazar
Carín León
Carín León was right at home in Texas. The Mexican regional star blends American R&B, soul, and country like no one else. With a voice smooth as tequila and a setlist that gets the crowd dancing then moody then back again, León ended with "Tennessee Whiskey." ¿Un poco de country mexicano? ¡Sí, señor! — Emiliano Tahui Gomez
Dasha
Dasha served major country drama with "Ain't No Friend of Mine" and "Austin." The Nashville queen stomped the stage in statement boots while a crew of muscle-bound dancers recreated her viral TikTok dance. Shirts came off, ladies screamed, and somewhere in Nashville, an ex crawled into a fetal position. Savage! — Deborah Sengupta Stith
Stephen Sanchez
Stephen Sanchez started his set like a '50s variety show, blending vintage rock and jazzy sounds. High showmanship, spiffy suits, and a swinging finale left the crowd dancing. Who knew a live studio audience could be so much fun? — Keri Heath
