Re: Oct. 11 article, 'Austin mulls walkable plazas on Congress'

Ah, brilliant! Austin’s latest masterplan to “enhance” downtown for pedestrians, aka make driving and parking even more of a nightmare. I already avoid downtown restaurants and businesses because the traffic and parking are just so inviting. Turning chunks of Congress Avenue into a pedestrian paradise? Brilliant! That’ll definitely make things better for everyone, especially the poor souls driving around in their eco-friendly cars.

Our beloved city leaders seem hellbent on either getting us out of our cars or banishing us from Austin altogether. But hey, I’m sure the high-rise residents will love having their very own private park. Because why should the rest of us get to enjoy green spaces, right?
