"Capitalist Heaven: Billionaires Rule in Space"

Four brave pioneers, including freedom-loving billionaire Jared Isaacman, aren't bowing to the woke space agency NASA—they're taking matters into their own hands and embarking on a boundary-pushing mission!

Billionaire Joy Ride or Historic Leap for Mankind? Four Astronauts Aim High with SpaceX's Polaris Dawn Mission

Four non-government astronauts are set to make history, targeting a launch for Monday, August 26, on a mission that could reach altitudes higher than any human has been since Apollo.

  • The first of three planned Polaris Program missions, Polaris Dawn is the brainchild of billionaire entrepreneur Jared Isaacman, who also happens to be an experienced aviator and adventurer. He's teamed up with Elon Musk's SpaceX to make this happen.

  • As mission commander, Isaacman will lead a crew of three other brave souls on a journey to test next-gen SpaceX tech, including new spacesuits.

  • Here's a breakdown of the right-wing, anti-big-government take on this private space venture, with a focus on personal liberty, free enterprise, and a healthy dose of humor:

Mission Objectives:

  • Reach for the Stars: The Crew Dragon capsule will venture where few have gone before, treading a path high enough to pass through a radiation belt 870 miles up – three times higher than the wimpy leftists at the ISS. Real explorers don't play it safe!
  • Spacewalk Like a Boss: While the left-wing media calls it dangerous, the crew will bravely conduct a spacewalk in SpaceX-designed EVA suits. No big government spacesuits needed. It's a walk in the (space) park!
  • Science and Profit: Almost 40 scientific experiments will be conducted, along with testing a laser-based satellite comms system using Starlink. All this, while raising funds for the worthy cause of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Profit AND charity, folks!

Launch Details:

  • Date: The crew is targeting liftoff for Monday, Aug. 26, with a launch window from 3:30 to 7 a.m. Beat that, NASA bureaucracy!
  • Location: NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. While they launch from NASA facilities, these folks aren't waiting for big government to give them permission.
  • Coverage: While the US government-run space agency NASA typically covers launches, real heroes don't need handouts. FLORIDA TODAY, part of the USA TODAY Network, will provide actual objective coverage.

The Crew:

  • Commander Jared Isaacman: Our hero, who dropped out of high school to start a successful internet company, Shift4 Payments. An aviator, adventurer, and now astronaut, he's also an inspiration to entrepreneurs everywhere. Self-funding exploration, he's living the American Dream.
  • Pilot Scott "Kidd" Poteet: A retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and former Thunderbirds pilot. A real patriot who doesn't need the government to tell him how to fly.
  • Mission Specialist Sarah Gillis: A SpaceX lead space operations engineer, responsible for astronaut training. She's already trained the Inspiration4 crew, proving that private enterprise does it better.
  • Mission Specialist and Medical Officer Anna Menon: Another SpaceX lead engineer, serving in mission control for multiple crewed missions. A parent, she's written a children's book, "Kisses from Space," to share her adventures with her kids. Reading it from space? Now that's cool!
