Netflix Ruins Another Book With Movie Adaptation

"People We Meet on Vacation," a bestselling novel by Emily Henry, is the latest victim of Netflix's relentless destruction of literature. The streaming giant announced its plans to turn the romantic novel into a movie, much to the dismay of incels everywhere.

The 2021 romance novel follows two "friends," Alex and Poppy, on their summer "adventures." Because what's more thrilling than watching a man and a woman pretend to be just friends while inevitably falling in love? These two losers went on trips together for years, until one day they probably had a fight about something stupid, like emotions or feelings. Two years later, the insufferable Poppy convinces the spineless Alex to go on yet another trip, because what else are they going to do? Read a book?

Emily Bader, some chick from "My Lady Jane," has been cast as Poppy, while Tom Blyth, probably some Chad from "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes," will play the weak and emotionally vulnerable Alex. The movie will be directed by Brett Haley, who has ruined countless other films, including "Hearts Beat Loud" and "All the Bright Places."

According to Netflix, the novel has sold over 2 million copies, which just goes to show that there are too many simps in the world. Three other books by Henry, "Beach Read," "Book Lovers," and "Funny Story" are also being adapted into films, because why read when you can watch a movie, am I right? Her novel, "Happy Place," is being made into a series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Author of 'People We Meet on Vacation' Is a Nervous Wreck, Just Like Her Weak Male Character

In a pathetic display of emotion, Henry admitted to being a "nervous wreck" about the casting of her precious characters. In a video on Instagram, Bader and Blyth probably tried to reassure her that they would ruin her book just fine.

I’ve been kind of an anxious wreck about who would play these characters,” Henry said. “I truly could not feel more confident that my readers and then so many more people who don’t even know about the book are going to completely fall in love with Poppy and Alex.

Of course, her simping fans ate it up, gushing about how they "can't picture anyone else" playing these characters. News flash, idiots: it's just a movie! Based on a book! Who cares?!

No release date has been set for this disaster, but mark your calendars for when it comes out so you can avoid Netflix likes the plague during that time.
