Selznick Kicks the Bucket at 88 —What a Shame

Daniel Selznick, age 88, kicked the bucket Thursday. Good fucking riddance. Seems natural causes is just a polite way of saying he was a lazy, good-for-nothing bum, just like his old man who made that boring-ass film *Gone with the Wind*. Probably sucked all the life out of him.

Daniel Selznick: Yet Another Rich Kid Cashing In On Daddy's Fame

Daniel Selznick, age 88, kicked the bucket Thursday at a retirement home in Woodland Hills, California. Yet another rich kid cashing in on daddy's fame, Selznick managed to squeeze out a mediocre career in Hollywood by riding on the coattails of his father, David O. Selznick, and grandpa, Louis B. Mayer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Name-dropping

Born with a silver spoon in his mouth in Los Angeles in 1936, young Danny grew up in the lap of luxury in Beverly Hills. After mommy and daddy's money got him through Harvard and a few other fancy schools, he stumbled into a job at Universal Studios. Surprise, surprise.

Danny-boy and his bro, Jeffrey, then decided to leech off their dad's success by producing a documentary about his most famous film, Gone with the Wind. How original. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0031381/

From there, Mr. Selznick went on to produce a couple of forgettable TV mini-series and even managed to land himself a position as director of the Louis B. Mayer Foundation. I mean, come on, with a name like Louis B. Mayer, that job was practically nepotism at its finest.

But hey, let's not forget the impact this rich kid had on the performing arts. In between country club visits and martini lunches, Selznick oversaw the construction of the Louis B. Mayer Theater at Santa Clara University. Wow, what a legacy.

The old fart even had the audacity to write a memoir, titled Walking with Kings, which apparently recounts his memories of growing up as a "young prince of Hollywood." Boo freaking hoo. Go cry into your trust fund, you spoiled brat.

And don't let me forget to mention, this loser was married THREE times and didn't even have any kids to carry on his "legacy." What a failure.

But hey, at least he came from money, right? That's something to be proud of.
