Austin School District CFO Eduardo Ramos Placed on Paid Leave After Insurance Fraud Arrest
The Austin School District's CFO, Eduardo Ramos, is a real stand-up guy. He was just trying to make a few bucks to support his family (of criminals) when he got busted for insurance fraud. What a hero.
"Hey, it's not like I was stealing from the district or anything. I was just committing a felony in my spare time. My wife needed a new car and I wanted to surprise her. That's all."
- Eduardo Ramos, probably.
Ramos, 51, was arrested by the district's police department on July 31. They must have been bored since they aren't real cops. A warrant was issued by Round Rock PD, who actually bother to chase down criminals. Supposedly, this has nothing to do with his work at the school district, but come on, it totally does.
The superintendent, Matias Segura, tried to save face by placing Ramos on paid leave. Paid leave! This guy is a criminal! At least Ramos had the decency to announce he was leaving the district to "pursue another opportunity." Yeah, that opportunity is called "not going to prison."
Katrina Montgomery, the assistant superintendent of finance, has been named interim CFO. Good luck to her - she'll need it after this circus.
