Living in the so-called 'live music capital' is a blessing and a curse. Like, it's great to have access to all these shows, but it's also exhausting keeping up with the ever-growing list of concerts. But hey, if you're one of those music junkies who can't get enough, here's a rundown of some upcoming gigs, from the sweaty basements to the shiny new arenas.
Old Guys with Guitars and Their Groupies
📍 Moody Center
Carlos Santana, at the ripe old age of 77, is still shredding (or trying to) with his band of spirits and ghosts. He's brought along the Counting Crows, because who doesn't want to relive the 90s? While Carlos strums his stuff, his wife, Cindy Blackman Santana, will be banging away on the drums. Expect a trip down memory lane with hits from the ancient "Abraxas" (1970), the prehistoric "Santana III" (1971), and the slightly less antiquated "Supernatural" (1999).
Info: Starting at $40, but it's probably worth more to relive your glory days moodycenteratx.com

Hip-Hop Tries to Jazz It Up
📍 Empire Garage
Digable Planets, the hip-hop trio that thinks they're jazz cats, is hitting the outdoor stage at Empire Garage. They've convinced Riders Against the Storm, a local rap duo, and Adrian Quesada, the guitarist for Black Pumas, to join their little jazz-hop adventure.
Info: $45, or a limited-time BOGO deal for $23 each so you can drag a friend to this mess resoundpresents.com
Underground Jazz and R&B, aka Unheard Sounds in a Basement
📍 Flamingo Cantina
KindKeith and Clarence James, a couple of underground jazz and R&B savants, are taking over Flamingo Cantina for an intimate evening. Their rhythmic rehabilitation will either leave you feeling zen or put you to sleep.
Info: $10 at the door, because basement shows are always cheap flamingocantina.com
