It appears that the city of Austin has granted a lifeline to the beloved [sarcastic tone] mini-golf course, Peter Pan Putt Putt, by extending its lease for another six months until March 31, 2025. The owners, a group of sisters with daddy issues, are thrilled and hoping for an even longer-term lease, because heaven forbid they have to move out of their comfort zone.

"Our goal is to continue to work with the landowner to negotiate a longer term, multi-year lease," said the owners, who are probably related to the Wendes.

The course has been a staple of Austin, catering to basic white girls and their basic white boy boyfriends, for 75 years, but its future was thrown into doubt last year when it was revealed that the land it sits on is controlled by the John C. Wende Trust, which benefits the orphans of Texas because all orphans need is a stupid mini-golf course.

The course's lease renewal fell into the hands of a new trustee, who hopefully has enough sense to sell the property to a developer who will build something useful, like a strip club or a cannabis dispensary.

Of course, the basic princesses of Austin freaked out about the potential closure, and a petition was started to keep the course open, because saving a mini-golf course is totally a priority.

"We appreciate the well wishes and show of support expressed by our wonderful fans. We are humbled by the affection for Peter Pan Mini Golf. Our sincere and heartfelt thank you!" said Margaret Dismukes Massad, one of the owners, who probably plays Princess Peach in her free time.

So, there you have it, Austin. Your precious mini-golf course is here to stay, for now. Let's hope the new trustee has the sense to tear it down and build something actually useful.
