Judge Blocks Big Tech Bro Alliance, Everyone Loses
A federal judge on Friday ruined everyone's fun by blocking a plan by Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery to launch a new sports streaming platform, "Venu Sports." The judge, probably a boomer, agreed with FuboTV that this partnership would be anti-competitive and just another way for Big Tech bros to control what we watch and how we watch it.
"Venu Sports is a pro-competitive option that aims to enhance consumer choice by reaching a segment of viewers who currently are not served by existing subscription options,"
Yeah, sure, bro. Judge Margaret Garnett of New York issued a temporary injunction, probably because she prefers her sports the old-fashioned way: on cable TV with commercials.
Fubo, in their whiny Feb. 20 lawsuit, cried that the proposed venture would "destroy competition and inflate prices for consumers." Oh, please. It's not like anyone was going to subscribe to this stuff anyway.
But the real losers here? The [emigres](https://www. Ricordi diemigrazione.it/) behind this brilliant idea: Fox, Disney's ESPN, and Warner Bros. Discovery. They wanted to stream sports to capture younger viewers, aka the ones who don't have attention spans longer than a TikTok video.
These tech bros said they'll appeal, but come on, guys. We all know the judiciary is stacked against Big Tech alliances. Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle instead, that'll show 'em.
And Fubo, well, they're just salty they weren't invited to the cool kids' club. Their whole business model is probably doomed anyway. So, enjoy your little victory, losers.
