Breaking: "Poet Laureate to Spew More Hope, UNITED STATES DOOMED"

Oh boy, grab your barf bags, folks. Amanda Gorman, the so-called "first national youth poet laureate," is set to inflict more of her optimistic drivel upon us at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night. buckle up, she's got a brand-new poem to make you believe in unity or some crap.

This performance comes a whopping three years after she spewed her first dose of hope porn at Biden's inauguration with "The Hill We Climb." Because, you know, that's what we need more of — words that inspire and stuff. eye roll

The 26-year-old is set to debut a new poem called "This Sacred Scene", which is supposed to be inspired by an "atmosphere of change and unity." gag She told Vanity Fair, “It’s such a big convention... I’m used to speaking at one-time, one-day events. This is a four-day magical convening of so many other speakers that I want to really do justice to the occasion.”

When to Tune In for the Unbearable Hope

Gorman's scheduled to assault your ears with "This Sacred Scene" at 9:45 p.m. ET/6:45 p.m. PT at The United Center in Chicago, the venue for the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

USA TODAY will provide livestream coverage on YouTube each night of the DNC, Monday through Thursday. You can watch Gorman's poem here.

Who is Amanda Gorman, and Why Should You Care?

Gorman is touted as the nation's first national youth poet laureate and the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history, as previously reported by USA TODAY.

She started writing to cope with a speech impediment, growing up in Los Angeles with her mom, who was a public-school teacher. Gorman joined WriteGirl, an LA-based nonprofit that helps teen girls use their oh-so-precious voices through creative writing, at age 14.

She became the Youth Poet Laureate of Los Angeles by 16 and the first national poet laureate three years later while studying sociology at Harvard. Because heaven forbid we have someone without an Ivy League degree spouting nonsense.

Her Big Moment at Biden's Inauguration

Gorman recited her original poem "The Hill We Climb" at The White House in 2021, marking the start of Biden's presidency. In about five minutes, she blabbed about the nation's diversity and unity, referencing the Jan. 6 Capitol riots. Because nothing says "healing and unity" like a few words from a kid who probably still lives in her mom's basement.
