"Oh joy, 'Scandal' clowns reunite to hawk Harris. Because fiction didn't fuck us enough already."

Oh great, just what we needed! Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn, AKA the most insufferable on-screen couple since Ross and Rachel, graced the DNC stage together. Because clearly, the only thing missing from politics was more cringe-inducing "will they, won't they" tension. Spare us, Scandal stans.

Oh Joy, Another 'Scandal' Reunion to Give Us All the Warm Fuzzies

Oh, you better believe the "Olitz" fangirls were shrieking when Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn—yes, those two insufferable lovebirds from Scandal—graced the stage at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Because heaven forbid we fail to be reminded of a fictional, overly dramatic political drama when there's a real circus happening.

Washington, who played the ever-intense crisis manager Olivia Pope, took the podium to lecture us all on the importance of voting and fawned over Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. She had the audacity to stand there and say, "As I stand here, I know that there are folks on social media already saying 'Go back to your TV show. Shut up and act.' But I am not here tonight as an actor. I am here as a mother, as a daughter, as a proud union member." Cue the deafening applause from the Kool-Aid drinkers.

She went on, "I am here as the granddaughter of immigrants, as a Black woman descended from enslaved people. I am here tonight because I am an American and because I am a voter and because we, the people are stronger when all our voices are heard." Gag me with a spoon.

Washington and Goldwyn's Narcissistic Video Moment

After her drivel, Tony Goldwyn, who played the pathetic President Fitzgerald Grant III, strolled on stage to take a selfie video with Washington and the fawning crowd. Because nothing says political savvy like a cringe-worthy celebrity video.

"Are you ready for Kamala Harris to win?" Washington asked, because clearly, she thinks Harris needs her endorsement.

"Yes," the crowd cheered mindlessly.

"Good, because when Kamala wins, America wins," she proclaimed. "We did it, Joe." I can practically hear the collective roll of eyes.

Social Media Reacts, Because Of Course It Does

The reunion sent "Scandal" fans into a tizzy, gushing all over Twitter.

"Let me go re-watch Scandal cause it's giving NOSTALGIA," one fan tweeted. Let's just pretend the last three seasons never happened.

Another user added, "Olitz on #TGIT? The country needs it! I would be even more grateful if the rest of the gladiators made an appearance...and papa pope." I can't even deal with this level of thirst.

And just a few months ago, Washington felt the need to hop on the bandwagon with the viral #BlackWifeEffect challenge, joking that she had a hand in Goldwyn's "glow-up." Naturally, she pivoted to pushing voter registration in the same breath.

"Tony! I've upgraded your life in so many ways #BlackWifeEffect, and today I'm adding one more," Washington wrote. "Go upgrade your voter registration status to REGISTERED 😜. Love you!!!!!!"

"I’d be lost without you kw…🤣 Registering NOW!🙌❤️," Goldwyn replied. Can someone pass me a bucket?
