Austin's Sumer Theatre Scene: Warm Nights, Cold Drinks, and Shows that Actually Don't Suck

Disclaimer: The following article contains my opinions, which are heavily biased and probably offensive to snowflakes and libtards. Read at your own risk, snowflakes!

As the sun scorches the Texan soil, we're reminded that summer is the perfect time for some badass entertainment to take our minds off the heat. And what better way to do that than with some kick-ass Broadway comedies and musicals that don't involve snow or leftist propaganda?

But first, a quick shout-out to the Zach Theatre for their thought-provoking epic, "The Lehman Trilogy". It's like a feel-good, conservative version of "Hamilton" without all the rapping and diversity crap.

Austin's Youth Got Talent, Y'all!

Yeehaw! Time to shine a spotlight on some young, conservative talent in the Heart of Texas! The Heller Awards recognized over 500 students from 37 schools, and y'all know these kids can sing, dance, and banter without triggering the snowflakes.

Jamias Hughes and Ava Moak, y'all rocked it and represented Austin proudly at the Jimmy Awards on Broadway! And a big ol' congrats to Round Rock's "Sweeney Todd" for best Central Texas show. Y'all sliced and diced the competition!

'Guys and Dolls': NY Gamblers, Preachers, and Showgirls, Oh My!

Yee-haw, y'all! Summer Stock Austin is celebrating 20 years of not being woke! Their captain, Ginger Morris, knows a thing or two about real America, bringing the classic "Guys and Dolls" to life. This 1950 musical is based on the stories of Damon Runyon, with songs that'll stick with ya longer than a Texas summer. It's got gamblers, missionaries, and showgirls who won't shame you for your conservative values.

Deets: Various times, Aug. 2-Aug. 11, McCullough Theatre, UT campus, Tickets from $45

'Legally Blonde': Blondes Have More Fun (and Know the Second Amendment)

Y'all remember Amanda Brown's novel about a sorority girl who kicks ass in law school? Well, they turned it into a movie, and now it's a musical! And get this, the blonde heroine ain't no liberal snowflake. She's smarter than those girly-men professors and knows her rights. The musical's got music, lyrics, and dialogue that'll make ya holler, "Yee-haw!"

Deets: July 12-Aug. 17, Zilker Hillside Theater, Free (but donate to buy more props, not drugs)

Or, if y'all feeling fancy, catch it in Wimberley:

Deets: July 12-Aug. 4, 450 Old Kyle Road, Wimberley, Tickets from $22

'The Little Mermaid': Under the Sea, Away from Woke Idiots

Disney's "The Little Mermaid" is a classic, y'all! It's about a mermaid who falls for a human, and guess what? She ain't whining about climate change. The stage musical is even better, with changes that make it even less woke. If y'all ain't seen it, y'all ain't real Texans. And y'all better not be California liberals neither!

Deets: Various times, July 27-Aug. 11, McCullough Theatre, UT campus, Tickets from $45

Summer Stock Austin Turns 20: Let's Party Like Texans!

Summer Stock Austin is turning 20, and they're throwing a shindig y'all won't forget! Their "20 Seasons Spectacular" night will feature current and alumni performers who won't lecture you about your carbon footprint. Vincent Jamal Hooper, a Summer Stock alum, is leading the charge, along with other stars like Matt Kennedy and Sara Burke. Y'all better saddle up and get there early 'cause there's only 400 seats!

Deets: 6 p.m., July 20, McCullough Theatre, UT campus, Tickets from $75
