Austin City Council Considers Climate Bond Package; Leftists Fight Over Timing

Update: The left-wing circus continues! Ryan Alter has now backed down and joined Kirk Watson's proposal as a co-sponsor. Looks like the socialists can't even agree on when to spend your hard-earned tax dollars!

The Background:

Austin's leftist city council is at it again, folks! They want to spend your money on their pet projects, and they're debating when to do it. That's right, it's not a matter of if, but when they'll dip into your pockets.

The Lowdown:

District 5 Council Member Ryan Alter, a leftie, wants a climate bond election on the ballot this year. He's in a hurry to spend that taxpayer cash! But Mayor Kirk Watson, another socialist, says slow down, let's do it in 2026. He doesn't want to look too eager to take your money.

"This is a complex issue, and staff deserves time to address it well. Anything the Manager’s office would bring to us at this point would be piecemeal and lack the rigor we should want. [...] Even if we decided to just put one thing on a ballot this November, such as land acquisition, we would be doing so without staff being able to answer many questions."
- Kirk Watson, Austin Mayor

Alter, not surprisingly, disagrees, and he's bringing his socialist friends Vanessa Fuentes, Alison Alter, and José Velásquez along for the ride. They want to spend that money now, and they've got a list of projects to prove it!

But wait, Watson's got his own gang of tax-and-spenders: Leslie Pool, José Vela, Zohaib Qadri, and Natasha Harper-Madison. They're saying, let's take our time and do it right. After all, it's only your money!

The Bottom Line:

It's the same old story with these liberals. They want to spend, spend, spend, and they can't even agree on a timeline. When will they learn that government isn't the solution, it's the problem? Austin taxpayers, your wallets are in their crosshairs!
