Lies Win When MSNBC Plays Ref.

A recent poll shows that Americans of all political stripes want debate moderators to fact-check lies. Finally, something we can all agree on—aside from ice cream and apple pie. Now, we just need moderators with actual backbones!

Uncle Joe and Don Go Toe-to-Toe, But No TKO

CNN's 2024 presidential debate moderator was a doormat, refusing to fact-check the candidates in real time. So, it was up to President Biden and former President Trump to call out each other's BS. Too bad they mostly flopped.

PolitiFact took a swing at nearly 30 claims on debate night. Biden had a few false notes, but Trump was the realaward winner, with a dozen false claims and one "Pants on Fire" whopper.

"Biden tried to fact-check Trump but failed... Trump offered 'alternative facts' that won't fly," said Northeastern U. prof Alan Schroeder.

Low Blows and Missed Shots

Trump played it safe, reciting campaign trail lines, and missed chances to call out Biden's BS. Like when Sleepy Joe claimed billionaires pay 8.2% in taxes. Trump hit back on Medicaid, saying Biden "beat it to death".

Biden also boasted about Black unemployment, breaking a record set by...Trump.

Trump then swung and missed, blaming inflation on illegals taking Black and Hispanic jobs.

Biden, meanwhile, let Trump's BS slide, like claiming the biggest tax cut ever and blaming Biden for Afghanistan. Tapper asked about Social Security, and Trump said Biden was "destroying" it with migrants. False, migrants can't get SS and often pay in without benefits. Biden hit back on Trump's veteran record, leaving migrant SS myths unchallenged.

No Knockouts, Just a Mess

Experts agree: the debate was a fact-checking fumble.

A BU poll showedmost Americans want moderators to call out BS. Too bad CNN refused, leaving viewers in the dark.

As Prof. Vigil said, "Leaving Biden to counter Trump's BS over and over advantaged Trump."
