Big Bad Beryl Heading for Big Bad Texas
As Hurricane Beryl gains strength, it sets its sights on South Texas. But wait, that's not all! This bad boy is coming for the whole Lone Star State with its strong winds and heavy rainfall.
Entering the Gulf of Mexico, the storm is gonna party hard and geteven stronger as it heads toward northern Mexico and the southern tip of Texas. Where it goes after that? Who knows! But those AccuWeather folks say it might run parallel to the coast before making landfall for the third time.
Rain, Rain, and More Rain
- Brownsville/Rio Grande Valley: 4 to 8 inches of rain. That's a lot of water, folks! Heat indices near 110℉ will make Friday nasty, and then those winds will gust up to 30 mph in the afternoon. The National Weather Service says the swell period will increase, bringing moderate risks for rip currents on Saturday.
- Austin/San Antonio: Again with the heavy rainfall! The National Weather Service says so themselves.Maybe a tenth to a quarter inch on Friday, but Saturday could bring a half inch.
- Dallas/Fort Worth: 1 to 3 inches of the wet stuff. A cold front is coming through, but the National Weather Service says there's a low risk of severe weather.
- Houston/Galveston: Marginal risk of excessive rainfall, says the Weather Prediction Center .(Hey, at least it'll cool things down after that heat advisory!)
So, folks, batten down the hatches and get ready for some wild weather. Stay safe, but also remember: a little rain never hurt anyone, and it sure beats those liberal snowflakes any day!
