RIP Wilburn Eugene Mott, a True Patriot and Sports Legend

Wilburn Eugene Mott, a Navy veteran and badass shot putter, has left us. Pflugerville's first athletic champ passed away at 75, leaving behind a legacy of service and sports excellence.

[Mott was] excelling in all sports... before graduating in 1967.

He was a real all-American hero. After high school, instead of going to college like a lib, he joined the Navy and served his country in Vietnam. Then, he became a salesman, and met his wife, Barbara. What a guy!

Mott was a true family man and a hobbyist. He loved his electric trains and those Texas high school sports events. He was a real Texan, living in the great state for 72 years before moving to Leander.

His favorite hobby was working on his electric train collection.

He's survived by his loving family: his wife of 52 years (what a marriage!), their kids, grandkids, and siblings.
