Abbott Investigates Texas Power Outages, Again

Gov. Abbott is sick and tired of Texans being left in the dark. He's calling for an investigation into the recent power outages across the state, specifically calling out CenterPoint Energy:

"What I'm going to be doing immediately is instructing the Public Utility Commission to undertake an immediate study to find out why this is repeatedly happening in Houston, Texas. They should not be losing power."

Abbott, currently on a trade mission in Asia, is demanding answers. He wants to know if it's the infrastructure that's failing or if it's a personnel issue.

CenterPoint Executive Jason Ryan, in his defense, claims:

"We know we have a lot of work to do. We will not stop the work until it is done... Our hearts go out to our community."

Yeah, well, hearts don't power homes, do they Ryan?

Ryan also provided a completely unnecessary timeline of their "heroic" efforts: planning before the storm, continuing through the Fourth of July weekend, and employing 12,000 workers before the storm hit.

Abbott wants the investigation's findings forwarded to the Legislature, so they can recommend solutions when they reconvene in January 2025.

Let's hope those 2 million Texans get power back sooner rather than later.

Keep Texas Lit!
