Texas woman sues prosecutors over abortion murder charge, liberal sob story ensues

A Texas woman, Lizelle Gonzalez, was arrested and charged with murder in 2022 for killing her unborn child through a self-induced abortion. After spending two nights in jail, she's now suing the prosecutors for $1 million, claiming her anxiety has skyrocketed.

The sob story:

"She does suffer from anxiety... She wasn’t able to be here today because she was just concerned about how it might affect her... But she’s very happy with the ruling." — Cecilia Garza, Gonzalez's attorney

Background: Killing her own baby

Gonzalez, 26, spent three days in jail after prosecutors indicted her for causing the death of her unborn child at 19 weeks. She took abortion medication, but when that didn't work, she went to the hospital. They detected a fetal heartbeat and discharged her, but she soon returned with abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding. The abortion was deemed "incomplete" and the baby was stillborn.

Prosecutors "made a mistake"?

The prosecutors, Ramirez and Barrera, have claimed immunity from the lawsuit, saying they "made a mistake." But Gonzalez's attorneys argue it wasn't negligence, blaming prosecutors for not knowing mothers are exempt from abortion-related murder charges.

Hospital staff violated privacy

Gonzalez also accuses hospital staff of violating her privacy by reporting her self-induced abortion to the DA's office. The lawsuit claims the prosecutors misrepresented facts and recklessly disregarded her rights. An investigatory panel fined Ramirez $1,250 and banned him from practicing law for a year.

Liberal media bias

Of course, the liberal media outlets like The Associated Press and USA TODAY are sympathetic to Gonzalez, failing to mention the baby's right to life and the gruesome nature of abortion.
