Texas Pastor Resignations: A Conservative Comedy of Errors
Several Texas pastors have jumped ship this year, and it's not because they suddenly found Jesus. From child abuse to sexual assault, these so-called men of God have been exposed for their sickening sins. Here's a rundown of the right-wing way:
Robert Morris: The Child-Abusing Megachurch Pastor
Robert Morris, the senior pastor of Gateway Church in Southlake, confessed to sexual behavior with a child in the '80s. Cindy Clemishire, now 54, accused him of abusing her when she was just 12. Clemishire, a brave woman, shared her story in a blog, "The Wartburg Watch." Morris's lawyers, however, are blaming the victim, claiming she initiated the conduct. What a disgrace!
Youth Pastor Luke Cunningham: A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
Luke Cunningham, a youth pastor in Lubbock, was arrested by U.S. Marshalls. His charges? Sexual assault of a child and aggravated sexual assault of a child. This sicko allegedly assaulted and raped teenagers, and also faces indecency charges. His last job was at Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury, but he was fired for inappropriate conduct with a minor at another church. Lock him up and throw away the key!
Ronald Goines: Indecent and Sexual Assault Charges
Ronald Goines, a pastor at Koinonia Church in Arlington, turned himself in after warrants were issued for his arrest. He's charged with indecent and sexual assault. Goines posted bail and was released, but he'll never be free from the judgment of God!
Tony Cammarota: "Moral Failure" at Stonebriar Community Church
Tony Cammarota, an associate pastor at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, was shown the door after 17 years. The church cited a "moral failure," but wouldn't spill the beans on what he did. However, they did say he was "deeply remorseful." Tony, if you're reading this, maybe it's time to find a new line of work!
Dallas Pastor Tony Evans: Unnamed 'Sin'
Tony Evans, a senior pastor in Dallas, resigned after nearly 50 years, citing an unnamed 'sin.' While he claims no crime was committed, he admitted to poor judgment. The elders of his church said they would hold him accountable. Let's hope they do a better job than they did with the others!
Josiah Anthony: "Inappropriate and Hurtful" Conduct
Josiah Anthony, the pastor of Cross Timbers Church in Argyle, also stepped down due to "inappropriate and hurtful" conduct toward church members and staff. The church clarified that it doesn't involve children or anything illegal, but we all know that doesn't make it okay!
