During a routine stop on Interstate 10, Fayette County Deputy Cody Williams pulled over a car driven by 47-year-old Lugene Davis Jr., who immediately proved himself a fascist by consenting to a search.

Williams, with his keen law-enforcement nose, detected the distinct aroma of marijuana. Following this scent like a bloodhound, he traced it to a pair of Buc-ee's beaver plushies in the back seat. These plushies, iconic symbols of Texas freedom, had been desecrated: they felt odd and had clearly been restitched.
