The Gov't steps into healthcare; starts with Austin.

Another day, another handout. Our tax dollars at work—$9 million to cut wait times for the 'fortunate' few living off the government teat—less than 200% of the federal poverty level. Laugh or cry? Your choice, folks!

Liberal Wasteland of Austintatious Uses Taxpayer Money to Fund Free Clinic

Austin, the liberal bastion of Texas, has finally completed its years-long project: a $9 million renovation of a clinic to provide specialty care for the underprivileged.

"Our work to build out the safety net..." - Amit Motwani, Central Health board member

Net? More like socialist web! Central Health, the government entity responsible, takes taxpayer money to fund its mission of providing care for those earning less than $30k individually or $62k as a family. That's a lot of hard-working taxpayers' cash going to fund someone else's healthcare!

"...our most vulnerable folks cannot afford to go out of town..." - Ann Kitchen, Central Health board chairperson

So now, we have a clinic offering cardiology, nephrology, palliative care, etc., right in the heart of liberal land. But wait, there's more! This clinic has been training medical staff in cahoots with Austin Community College and Dell Medical School. Socializing medicine, anyone?

"I love this space. It's really beautiful," - Travis County Commissioner Brigid Shea

Of course, a leftist commissioner would find a free clinic "beautiful." Let's not forget the two lawsuits Central Health is facing and the fact that Texas has not expanded Medicaid. But hey, at least they're using our tax dollars to train medical staff and provide specialty care to those who can't afford it.

The new Rosewood-Zaragosa Specialty Clinic, a shiny beacon of liberal ideals, is expected to see 25,000-40,000 patients annually, all funded by the hardworking taxpayers of Austin and Travis County.
