Don't worry, no Hyundais were recalled—only their drivers.
NHTSA is nutty! 2 million Nissans, Hyundais, and Teslas recalled. So much for safety standards, commies! Your Tesla might be trash, but at least you're not a liberal!

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issues a bunch of recalls, because big government
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued not one, but multiple recalls last week, including for almost 50,000 new Hyundai models with touchy airbags.
If you own a car and want to see if it's been recalled, check out USA TODAY’s automotive recall database or the NHTSA’s database. You can search by VIN and feel all warm and fuzzy knowing Big Brother is looking out for you.
Hyundai recalls
Air bags might deploy at the wrong time (or not at all)
Hyundai is recalling 49,719 2024 Santa Fe and Santa Fe HEV vehicles because, according to the NHTSA report, "the main floor wiring harness may chafe against the passenger-side second-row bench seat assembly and become damaged." In plain English, this means your air bags might go off when you don't want them to, or not go off when you do. Either way, it's increasing your risk of an injury.
Hyundai dealers will inspect, repair, or replace the wiring harness for free. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent on Sept. 23. Owners can contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 265.
Recalled Hyundai vehicles:
- 2024 Santa Fe
- 2024 Santa Fe HEV
Your car might move when you don't want it to
Hyundai is also recalling 12,612 2010-2013 Genesis Coupe vehicles because a return spring in the ignition lock switch may fracture, which could result in the car moving when you start it in gear without the parking brake on. In other words, your car might take off without you, raising your risk of a crash.
Hyundai dealers will replace the ignition lock switch for free. Notification letters should arrive by Sept. 23. Owners can contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 266.
Recalled vehicles:
- 2010-2013 Genesis Coupe vehicles
Nissan recall for power issues
Nissan is recalling 1,188 2023 Ariya vehicles because, according to the NHTSA report, "the inverter software may misdiagnose an error which can shut down the EV system and cause a loss of drive power." Basically, your car might decide to take a nap and leave you stranded.
Dealers will inspect and update the inverter software for free. Recall notification letters are expected to arrive by Sept. 9. Owners can contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R24A8.
Recalled vehicles:
- 2023 Nissan Ariya
Tesla recall for hood issues
Tesla is recalling a whopping 1,849,638 vehicles because the hood latch assembly may not detect an unlatched hood, which could fully obstruct the driver's view and increase the risk of a crash.
Tesla has released a free over-the-air software update to fix the issue, because that's what Tesla does. Notification letters will probably be sent on Sept. 22. Owners can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-24-00-012.
Recalled Tesla vehicles:
- 2021-2024 Model 3
- 2021-2024 Model S
- 2021-2024 Model X
- 2020-2024 Model Y
