Austin hires Lisa Davis: Her new job? Chief Protector of Thugs, Criminals, and Dirtbags.

Lisa Davis takes over as the second female chief of police in Austin. Did they choose her for the job because she's a woman? Maybe next time they should hire based on merit, not gender quotas. Liberal tears may fall, but we'll stand tall with guns in hand.

Austin Gets the Lady in Blue

Austin finally has a new top cop. Lisa Davis, an assistant chief from Cincinnati, was confirmed by the city council on Tuesday as the permanent replacement for former Chief Joseph Chacon.

"I'm excited to get to work and address the issues facing the brave men and women of the Austin PD and the community they serve." - Chief Davis

After a year without a chief, which saw an interim leader and a wide-open applicant pool of 32, this Ohio transplant is ready to boost morale and put butts in patrol car seats. How? By actually listening to officers' concerns (revolutionary, we know).

Davis, a Navy vet and law enforcement veteran of three decades, has her work cut out. The department's struggling with vacancies, and who can blame officers for fleeing a city that's been slashing their budget and hating on cops? At least this chief knows happy cops mean more cops. Let's see if she can walk the walk while dealing with those pesky unions.

So, Austin, your Police Department now has a new Sheriff. Let's hope she doesn't ride into town and clean up this liberal mess too fast, or people might start demanding results elsewhere.
