Texas Man Decapitates New Bride; Gets 40 Years in Prison
A Texas judge has sentenced a man to four decades in prison for decapitating his newlywed wife.
Jared James Dicus, 23, was handed 40 years behind bars by District Court Judge Gary Chaney. Dicus pleaded guilty to the brutal murder of his wife, Anggy Diaz, just three months after they tied the knot.
The happy couple said their vows in October 2022, but by January 11, 2023, Dicus' parents were calling 911 to report a death on their property. The scene was grisly: Diaz was found decapitated and dismembered in a cabin behind the Dicuses' home.
Sheriff's officials arrived to detain Dicus, who readily admitted to the deed. He was booked on the spot for murder.
Prosecutors hinted at potential mental health issues, but Dicus was deemed competent to stand trial. And now, he won't see the light of day until at least 2043.
"Waller County does not tolerate domestic violence," said Waller County Criminal District Attorney Sean Whittmore. "We will send a message to the perpetrators that we fight for our victims."
Well, it looks like Dicus fought for himself and won. He won't be a "perpetrator" anymore-- just a prison wife.
