Power Out in East Austin: Liberal Paradise Takes a Break

Oh boy, folks! Grab your candles and dust off those old flashlights – about 7,000 East Austin residents are in for a dark night until at least 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to Matt Mitchell, a spokesperson for Austin Energy, who spilled the beans to the American-Statesman.

The lights started flickering off just before 5 p.m., right when the mercury hit a scorching 107 degrees Fahrenheit – the hottest temp of the year! Who knew a Texas summer could get this toasty?

If you’re one of the lucky ones affected, you’re likely living East of Interstate 35 and as far west as Airport Boulevard. The blackout stretches from South Lake Shore Boulevard all the way up north to East 11th Street.

And the best part? They don’t have a clue what caused the outage. Go figure!

Stay tuned for updates, folks. This story is just getting started.
