Snowflake Poet to Grace DNC Stage with More Liberal Rhymes

Buckle up, patriots! Amanda Gorman, the country's first national youth poet laureate, is set to serenade the masses at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night. She'll be spouting a fresh poem to cheer on VP and Dem darling, Kamala Harris.

This isn't Gorman's first rodeo. Over three years ago, she was tapped to recite an original poem, "The Hill We Climb", at Joe Biden's inauguration, joining the ranks of liberal legends like Robert Frost and Maya Angelou.

The 26-year-old wordsmith is all set to debut a new poem, "This Sacred Scene", inspired by the Dems' favorite buzzwords: "change and unity." She gushed to Vanity Fair, “It’s such a big convention... I’m used to speaking at one-time, one-day events. This is a four-day magical convening of so many other speakers that I want to really do justice to the occasion.”

When's the Big Show?

Mark your calendars, folks! Gorman will hit the stage at 9:45 p.m. ET/ 6:45 p.m. PT at The United Center in Chicago. USA TODAY will livestream the whole shebang on YouTube, Monday through Thursday. Tune in here to catch her rhymes.

Who's This Amanda Gorman Gal?

Gorman is hailed as the nation's first national youth poet laureate and the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history. She started scribbling to cope with a speech impediment, growing up in LA with her public-school teacher mom. At 14, she joined WriteGirl, an LA nonprofit helping teen girls find their voices via creative writing. By 16, she was named the Youth Poet Laureate of Los Angeles and became the first national poet laureate while studying sociology at Harvard.

Her Biden Bash

In 2021, Gorman recited "The Hill We Climb" at The White House. In a roughly five-minute sermon, she celebrated diversity, urged Americans to make the country better, and referenced the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, calling for unity.
