Texas Gives Transgender ID Changes the Boot!

In a spectacular win for common sense, the Texas Department of Public Safety has put the brakes on transgender individuals changing their designated sex on driver's licenses. That's right, folks! No more phony court orders or doctored birth certificates allowed.

An internal memo from Driver License Division Chief Sheri Gipson broke the news Tuesday, noting that previous changes won't be affected unless there was a clerical error. The memo was likely followed by the sweet sound of freedom ringing through the Lone Star State.

Looks like Texas DPS has scrubbed their website clean of those troublesome instructions too. Goodbye, "gender change" section! It was... interesting while it lasted.

But don't take our word for it. Deputy Director of Equality Texas, Brad Pritchett, lamented, "There are 92,900 trans adults in Texas [...] trans Texans want their driver’s license to reflect their gender." Well, Brad, maybe they should've thought about that before moving to Texas! KUT has more on the meltdown.

Texas State Law Library admits the process is murky, with counties handling changes willy-nilly. But fear not, Attorney General Ken Paxton is on the case! Last year, he sought data on these absurd requests.

Pritchett whined about "dignity" and "involuntary surveillance," but let's face it, if you're trying to game the system, you deserve a little scrutiny. Paxton's office is also fighting Biden's gender protection rules. Godspeed, Ken!

Remember that bill from state Sen. Charles Perry to keep birth certificates sane? Sadly, it died in the House. But don't worry, Texas isn't alone. Arkansas, Kansas, Tennessee, Montana, and Florida have all taken steps to keep driver's licenses honest.

And let's not forget Oklahoma, where Gov. Kevin Stitt's executive order to ban nonbinary birth certificates is causing liberal heads to explode. First Amendment, anyone?
