Liberal Love-Fest: Massachusetts Rep. Katherine Clark Kicks Off DNC Shindig

Massachusetts Rep. Katherine Clark kicked off the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Thursday, giving us a double dose of progressive pandering. Before she became a rep, Clark worked as general counsel of the Massachusetts Office of Child Care Services, prosecutor for the Colorado Attorney General's Office, and federal court clerk for the Honorable Alfred A. Arraj, according to Ballotpedia. In other words, she's been around the liberal block a few times.

In her speech, Clark went on about the dire need for affordable childcare and other resources for working families. She also warned of the big, bad Project 2025, which apparently is out to get families struggling to pay their bills. Because, you know, the left thinks you can't handle your own life without their help.

The Democratic National Committee convention is happening in Chicago from Monday, Aug. 19 to Thursday, Aug. 22. Vice President Kamala Harris is set to formally accept the party's nomination for the 2024 election on the final day, because who else would it be?

Who is Rep. Katherine Clark?

  • Who is she? Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA) represents Massachusetts' 5th Congressional District.
  • What role does she play? As the Democratic Whip, Clark is the "second woman to ever serve at the top of House leadership, and the highest-ever ranking woman from Massachusetts," her website boasts. Democratic Whips are typically defined as the person who is "mainly responsible for counting heads and rounding up party members for votes and quorum calls, and they occasionally stand in for the majority or minority leaders in their absence," according to the U.S. Senate.
  • Key quote: "When parents have to choose between their kids and their jobs, businesses are hurt too. We shut out talent. We lose the prosperity parents could create. Childcare makes our economy run."

When and where is the DNC?

The Democratic National Convention will take place from August 19-22 in Chicago, Illinois. Because where else would the liberals gather but the Windy City?

The United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks, will be the main venue for the DNC. Chicago has hosted the Democratic Convention 11 times, most recently in 1996 when the United Center saw President Bill Clinton nominated for a second time.

How to watch and stream the 2024 DNC

The convention will air live on its website from the United Center in Chicago between 6:15 p.m. and 11 p.m. Eastern (5:15 p.m. to 10 p.m. Central) on Monday, and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern (6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Central) the other days. Because who needs sleep when you can watch the left pat themselves on the back?

USA TODAY will provide livestream coverage on YouTube each night of the DNC, Monday through Thursday.

What are the themes for each night of the DNC?

The DNC announced nightly themes for the convention. The title of the convention is "For the People, For Our Future." Don't say we didn't warn you.

Here are the themes for each night:

  • Monday: "For the People" (whatever that means)
  • Tuesday: "A Bold Vision for America's Future" (spoiler: it involves more taxes)
  • Wednesday: "A Fight for our Freedoms" (not the ones you care about)
  • Thursday: "For our Future" (because the left knows best)
