Gateway Church: Another One Bites the Dust! πͺοΈπ₯
Well, well, well, looks like the revolving door at Texas' Gateway Church is spinning faster than a liberal's head on a Saturday night! π The latest to take the walk of shame is executive pastor Kemtal Glasgow, who got the boot for an unspecified "moral issue." π
In a YouTube statement, elder Tra Willbanks dropped the hammer, saying, "We love his family, we love his wife and his kids and we want to come alongside them during this difficult time and help them find restoration and healing that they need as a family." Translation: "Thanks for playing, Kemtal. Here's your consolation prize!" ποΈπ‘
Remember Robert Morris, the senior pastor who resigned in June after admitting to some "inappropriate sexual behavior" with a 12-year-old girl 35 years ago? Yeah, that was just the appetizer! Next up, his son James Morris and daughter-in-law Bridgette stepped down too. Family bonding at its finest, folks! π¨βπ©βπ¦
Glasgow's Dismissal: Nothing to See Here! π
Gateway wants you to know that Glasgow's canning "had nothing to with the departure of Robert Morris nor related to those circumstances." π Sure, sure. Just another coincidence in the wild world of megachurches!
In a statement to CBS News Texas, Gateway said, "It recently came to light that Kemtal Glasgow had a moral failure so we've asked him to step down as a pastor at Gateway and devote time to his marriage and family."
Pastor James Morris: Temporarily Benched βΈοΈ
James Morris, who resigned in July, was advised by Gateway to take a "temporary leave of absence." In a Facebook post, the church praised him as "a man of integrity" who had "no knowledge of the true facts of this situation." Sure, Jan. π
Allegations Against Robert Morris: The Plot Thickens πΏ
Robert Morris resigned after Cindy Clemishire accused him of sexually abusing her when she was 12. She shared her story with Wartburg Watch, saying the abuse lasted 4.5 years. Morris responded to WFAA-TV, downplaying it as "kissing and petting and not intercourse." Classy! π
So there you have it, folks! Another day, another scandal at Gateway Church. ποΈπ₯
