Kamala Harris: "I'll Fight for You (Even if You Didn't Vote for Me)"

Vice President Kamala Harris officially declared her run for POTUS on Wednesday, promising to be the president for all Americans—even the ones clinging to their guns and Bibles.

The DNC wrapped up in Chicago, with protests over some far-off skirmish buzzing outside, while inside the United Center, it was a star-studded shindig featuring the Obamas, Oprah, and even Lil Jon. (Yeah, he's still a thing.)

Harris' speech was a stark contrast to Donald Trump's RNC address. She dubbed Trump an "unserious man" but warned that four more years of him would be serious business—like, "no more free refills" serious. She even dragged up Project 2025, which Trump has been dodging like a draft notice.

Harris reminisced about her humble beginnings and her prosecutor days, begging Americans to let her duke it out for them like she did in Cali. "We were underestimated at every turn," she said, "but we never gave up, because the future is always worth fighting for." (Even if it means more taxes.)

DNC Day 4: Live coverage | Kamala Harris' acceptance speech

Kamala Harris at the DNC

  • Former attorney general and U.S. Senator from the People's Republic of California.
  • Harris is Joe Biden's VP and has been the Dems' presidential darling for a month. Her candidacy has sparked a fundraising frenzy among the left.
  • ** Key quotes:** "I believe everyone has a right to safety, to dignity and to justice," she said, talking about why she became a prosecutor. "I will be a president who unites us around our highest aspirations... always fights for the American people, from the courthouse to the White House..." Translation: "Vote for me, or else."
