Lakeway City Council: Taxes Capped, Lawsuit Drama, and Pool Woes
Buckle up, folks! Lakeway City Council just had a whirlwind of a meeting. Here's the lowdown:
πΈ Taxes: Council approved a max tax rate of $0.1625 per $100 home valuation for 2025. Final vote comes Sep. 16, with public hearings on Sep. 3 and Sep. 16. Mark your calendars, tax enthusiasts!οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½ court Lawsuit Drama: Lakeway's jumping into Bee Cave's lawsuit against West Austin Business Park. Bee Cave isn't happy about an industrial park popping up next door, complainin' about pollution, traffic, and noise. Lakeway residents cheered on their city's involvement β all 35 of 'em! π
π Pool Problems: Council waived the $1,050 pool inspection fee for pools wrecked by alkali-silica reaction (ASR). Same goes for demo fees. Bad news for 85 out of 844 pools built since 2017. Thanks a lot, ASR! π
π Housing Hullabaloo: Council approved an updated land use map for 5 acres at 300 Birrell Street, greenlighting a planned unit development (PUD) with duplexes and townhomes. Kelly Brynteson worried about density, but the show must go on!
