California Patriot Outsmarts Mail Thieves with AirTags, Leftist Criminals Nabbed

In a glorious display of good old American ingenuity, a California woman sent two suspected mail thieves packing—straight to jail! 🎉

Santa Barbara County sheriff's deputies swooped into action around 7:17 a.m. on Aug. 19 after this savvy lady's clever plan paid off. She'd had enough of her mail going missing, so she mailed herself a package with an Apple AirTag tucked inside. Boom! 💥 Instant tracking, courtesy of a $29 gadget.

Sure enough, her mail got swiped again that morning, but this time, she was ready. With the AirTag's help, cops zeroed in on the perps: Virginia Franchessca Lara, 27, from Santa Maria, and Donald Ashton Terry, 37, from Riverside.

But wait, there's more! These two geniuses weren't just holding onto our hero's stolen goods—they had a whole collection from over a dozen other victims. 🤦‍♂️

Lara's now cooling her heels at the Northern Branch Jail, charged with possession of checks with intent to commit fraud, fictitious checks, identity theft, credit card theft, and conspiracy. Bond: a cool $50,000.

Terry, on the other hand, racked up charges for burglary, possession of checks with intent to commit fraud, credit card theft, identity theft, conspiracy, and a bunch of theft-related warrants from Riverside County. His bond? A whopping $460,000. 💰

"The Sheriff’s Office would like to commend the victim for her proactive solution, while highlighting that she also exercised appropriate caution by contacting law enforcement to safely and successfully apprehend the suspects," the release said. Well said, Sheriff! 👍

USA TODAY tried to chat with the Santa Barbara County Public Defender's Office, who's repping Lara and Terry, but no dice yet.

And there you have it, folks. Another win for the good guys, thanks to a fed-up citizen and a little help from modern tech. God bless America! 🇺🇸
