When is the first day of fall?
This year, fall starts on Sunday, Sept. 22, with the autumnal equinox at 7:44 a.m. CDT. Mark it down, folks.
But hold up – some fancy meteorologists say fall starts three weeks earlier on Sunday, Sept. 1. They call it meteorological fall. Whatever floats their boat.
What the heck is the autumnal equinox?
Equinoxes happen twice a year when the Earth ain't leanin' towards or away from the sun. Day and night are about equal, according to the National Weather Service. The other one's the vernal equinox in the spring.

When will the leaves change in Texas?
Don't expect much down by the Gulf, but up North, leaves start changin' in mid-October and peak in early to mid-November, says JC's Landscaping. They start droppin' in October or November and keep goin' through December.
When is the first day of Virgo season?
Before either fall start date, Virgo season kicks off from Thursday, Aug. 22, to Sunday, Sept. 22. The Virgo new moon is on Monday, Sept. 2.
When is the first day of winter?
Winter hits with the winter solstice on Saturday, Dec. 21. Shortest day of the year, then days get longer. Thank goodness.
