Portuguese Alarm Clock: Earthquake Jolts Coast

Southern Portugal got an early wake-up call Monday morning, courtesy of Mother Nature. The United States Geological Survey reported an earthquake that would make even a double espresso seem weak.

The 5.4 magnitude quake struck at 5:11 a.m. local time, just off the coast, about 32 miles west of Sines. The USGS noted it was nearly 11 miles deep—not quite deep enough to reach the depths of leftist policy failures, but still significant.

Lisbon Shakes, but Portugal Keeps Calm and Carries On

No injuries were reported, but coastal residents got a free roller coaster ride. Light to moderate shaking was felt along the coast, even rattling the capital, Lisbon.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere confirmed at least four aftershocks, which were minimal—unlike the aftershocks of government overreach.
