Ain't That America? Austin's Skyline Goes Liberal-Large!

Well, buckle up, y'all! Left-wing Austin American-Statesman photojournalist Jay Janner's been snappin' pics of Central Texas for near on 20 years. Every fall since 2005, he's caught Austin's skyline from Zilker Park, and lemme tell ya, it ain't your granddaddy's Austin no more!

Back in '05, during that weird hippie music fest they call Austin City Limits, Janner snapped a shot with downtown in the background. Tallest buildin' then was the Frost Bank Tower, all 516 feet of it. Nowadays, it's the fifth tallest and hidin' behind all them newfangled monstrosities!

Oh, and who can forget the "Dust Bowl" year? Folks were chokin' on dust to Oasis and Coldplay. Snowflakes installed sprinklers after that. And get this, weekend passes were only $105! Can you even buy a latte for that now?

Last year, the "Jenga tower" ( Independent, 685 ft) was king of the hill. But now, some 66-story eyesore at Sixth and Guadalupe stole the crown at 865 feet. And hold onto your MAGA hats, folks! The libs are buildin' a monster called Waterline, a 1,022-foot behemoth set to be the tallest in Texas by 2026. Thanks, Obama!
