Buckle Up, Snowflakes! Hurricane Season's Got One More Surprise!

In the "hold my beer" spirit of 2024, Tropical Storm Milton just formed in the Gulf of Mexico. Thanks a lot, National Hurricane Center, for the Saturday buzzkill.

This baby's expected to hit puberty and grow into a full-blown hurricane by Sunday, and it's got its eye on Florida's west coast. It's been barely a week since Helene's disaster movie audition, leaving 128 dead and hundreds missing.

Florida folks, get ready for some life-threatening storm surges, winds that'll make your MAGA hat fly, and rain like Biden's tears on election night. Party starts late Tuesday or Wednesday.

Track all active storms (Because who doesn't love a good storm tracker?)

Where's Tropical Storm Milton Now?

NHC's 7 a.m. Sunday weather advisory says:

  • Location: 345 miles west-northwest of Progreso, Mexico (Sorry, Mexico, you're not off the hook yet.)
  • Maximum sustained winds: 60 mph (Just a few mph away from becoming a real hurricane party.)
  • Present movement: East at 5 mph ( Slow and steady wins the race, right?)

Where's Tropical Storm Milton Heading?

Early forecasts say it's moving eastward to northeastward, away from Texas (phew!), across the Gulf. NHC says keep an eye out, Yucatan peninsula, Florida Peninsula, Florida Keys, and northwestern Bahamas.

Get ready for some heavy rains, Florida. Hurricane and Storm Surge watches will likely be required late Sunday. NHC predicts up to 8 inches of rain through Wednesday night.
