Uvalde FINALLY Releases Shooting Footage – Thanks, Government Efficiency!

Buckle up, folks! The city of Uvalde has finally graced us with more videos and investigative materials showcasing law enforcement's epic fail during the Robb Elementary School mass shooting in May 2022. 🚨🚨🚨 Just a reminder, this is where a gunman tragically took the lives of 19 children and two teachers. Thanks for keeping us safe, guys!

The footage, which took forever to see the light of day, comes after an agreement between the city and news organizations, including the American-Statesman and Gannett. Why the delay? Who knows? Government efficiency at its finest, right?

After releasing a ton of records in August, Uvalde officials realized, "Oh snap, we missed some stuff!" An Uvalde police sergeant even resigned over it. Classic. 🤔

Uvalde is the only government entity to agree to release records to settle a lawsuit brought by the news outlets. Let's give them a round of applause for doing the bare minimum! 👏

The new material seems to confirm what we already knew: about 400 officers stormed the campus and twiddled their thumbs for over an hour before deciding to do something about the 18-year-old gunman wielding an AR-15-style assault rifle. Way to go, heroes! 🙄

Former Uvalde school district Police Chief Pete Arredondo and former officer Adrian Gonzales have since been indicted on child endangerment charges by a Uvalde grand jury. Because nothing says "competent law enforcement" like endangering kids.

In true government fashion, the U.S. Justice Department also launched investigations and concluded that a faster response could have saved lives. You don't say?! 😱

But hey, at least we can watch the footage now and shake our heads at the ineptitude. Progress, right? 🤷‍♂️
