Neutral Field Rivalries: How Many?

Texas and Oklahoma have been squaring off in Dallas since your grandpa was in knee-highs – 1929! Those Longhorns haven't dared set hoof in Norman since '22. And the Sooners? They last saw Austin when cowboy hats outnumbered man buns, way back in '23.

Red River Showdown: Texas and Oklahoma to Clash in Dallas

Yeehaw, folks! Buckle up because it's time for the 120th edition of the Red River Rivalry this Saturday afternoon. That's right, Texas and Oklahoma are going face-to-face in the Cotton Bowl, right smack in the middle of Dallas. It's a good ol' fashioned 200-mile trek from Royal-Memorial Stadium and about 190 miles from the Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

These two have been at it since 1929, and let me tell you, it's as smooth as a rodeo ride. The Longhorns haven't set foot in Norman since 1922, and the Sooners last visited Austin in 1923. Talk about taking a stand!

Now, you might think college football rivalry games are all about swapping campuses. Nope, not these guys. Texas and Oklahoma aren't the only ones who like to meet in the middle:

Washington-Washington State: The Apple Cup used to be all about home games, but things got shaken up when the Huskies bolted from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten. This year, Seattle's Lumen Field hosted the first non-conference clash between these state rivals since 1961.

Army-Navy: Philly's been the usual spot for this legendary matchup, but now it's on a four-year NFL stadium tour. After a stint in New England last season, the Army and Navy will suit up in the Washington Commanders' home turf come December.

Florida-Georgia: Just like Texas and Oklahoma, these rivals have been battling it out in neutral territory for ages. Besides a brief two-year detour in 1994 and 1995, the Gators and Bulldogs have been meeting in Jacksonville since 1933.

Get ready for some good old-fashioned football, folks. Let's see who takes the crown this year!
